RETRAINING AS A TEACHER

I’m not going to get soppy, but basically, after working as a substitute teacher at my kid’s school I fell in love with teaching. Writing is a solitary job and your work goes out into the world and sometimes it resonates with people and sometimes it doesn’t and really there’s no way to know one way or the other.

Teaching kids and teenagers is an immense responsibility and privilege but it’s also filled with a profound purpose. And in very real time, by helping people reach their goals, seeing something click and watching them make connections about the world. It’s just, I don’t know, joyful?

I will be qualified as of June 2022, upon completing my IPGCE from Queen’s University Belfast.

As a teacher I believe in inclusive and differentiated teaching. I pride myself in having a pastoral approach to my practice and I hope to continue on this path and share resources and learning as I go along.
